Saving Modules in a Library

Welcome to 3DEXPERIENCE Technical Practices!
In this section, you will explore a use case demonstrating how to save modules in a library and instantiate them in a design

When a module is saved to a Library, its input and output interfaces are preserved exactly as defined. When that module is instantiated from the library into new 3DSPACE, the interfaces automatically adapt to the new context resolving references, parameters, and geometry without any manual modification. The module's internal features update themselves to the new context through the interface contract, making reuse seamless across any project that retrieves it.

Saving a module in a library in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE stores a fully defined module along with its complete input and output interfaces in a governed, searchable team repository. These defined interfaces act as a contract, ensuring all geometric references and parameters remain intact.

When instantiated in a new assembly, the module’s interfaces automatically adapt to the new context. Its internal features resolve seamlessly without requiring manual modification, ensuring consistent and immediate reuse across projects.

The Modules & Interfaces feature is available if you have one of the following Roles:

Know more about Library

Library:

A governed repository within CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE where fully defined modules are stored alongside their complete input and output interfaces, making them searchable for team-wide reuse.

When a module is saved to the library, its interface contract including all named inputs, outputs, and internal feature definitions are preserved exactly as built. Any team member can search for the module by name or classification, retrieve it, and instantiate it into a new assembly without needing to understand its internal construction.

Use Case: Centralized Storage for Consistent Design Reuse

Scenario: In a modular design process, modules developed across projects often remain isolated in personal folders with no shared access. This makes reuse dependent on manual file sharing, which can lead to lost or modified interface contracts.

With the Library feature in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE, you can create a governed library, store fully defined modules (with their complete interface contracts preserved), and retrieve or instantiate those modules directly into any new 3D part. The interfaces automatically adapt to the new context, eliminating the need for manual modifications.
