Presentation
2026x Dassault Systemes sample Starter Kit, cover limited number design rules, specification and Piping Parts.
Please find enclosed in this post a complete Piping Resource Set with two Standards :
- DIN-EN (Default Specification)
- ANSI
Four Specifications :
- IPS_Global_DIN_Piping Specification: the Default Piping Specification used when the specification is undefined.
- IPS_Global_ANSI_Piping Specification: the second Piping Specification can only be used in L2P (Logical to Physical) context - see Practice L2P - start from Scratch video section below.
- IPS_Global_Insulation-Default-Piping: the Piping Specification that defines Insulation.
- IPS_Global_Repository_Tables: this specification list all the Piping Tables that are common to DIN and ANSI Specifications, and other Tables that are not not mandatory to be binded under the DIN and ANSI Specifications.
The idea of this Resource Set is to have a light one that can be imported on Cloud with no limitation (47k objects maximum can be imported on Cloud), and that can be easily used for any Piping Demonstration.
Both Standard are build exactly the same way :
- 10 Nominal Sizes for Rigid Pipes.
- 3 Nominal Sizes for Flexible Pipes.
- 3 materials : 1 for Rigid Pipes, 1 for Flexible Pipes, 1 for all the Parts.
- Limited number of Parts but enough to engage with any customer - 3 different type of valves:
- Check Valve
- Gate Valve
Ball Valve.
Here the list of all different Tables that are used to automate and assist the Piping Design:
- Piping Turn Rule Table to automatically place the Elbow.
- Piping Minimum Straight Length to map some attributes of the pipes/tubes with the allowed minimum straight lengths between two bends.
- Piping Directional Length Table to define the minimum length of the straight routable portion connected to a port.
- Piping Automatic Part Placement Table to place Flange plus Gasket on any Valve or other Flanges automatically.
- Piping Branching Rule Table to automatically manage the Tee junction.
- Piping Reducer Rule Table to automatically manage Reducer junction.
Piping Safety Route Offset Table to define an offset value for a nominal size that ensures the required clearance between routes or between routes and other surfaces.
- Piping Automated Offset Table to define the parameters when using the Automated Offset command.
Piping Compatibility Rule Table to ensure that when you are placing parts and creating routes, the parts you choose are compatible with one another and with the route.
Piping Spool Rule Table to automatically create Spools for manufacturing according to rules.
Mapping Part Subtype Table to identify for each logical type the corresponding physical type when doing L2P.

Piping Automatic Part Rule Table
The automatic part rules define how parts are automatically placed in the Piping & Tubing 3D Design app when you select Modify > Edit > Insert Automatic Part in the shortcut toolbar.
Piping Reducer Rule Table (extract)
The Reducer Rule table describes the rule to follow when connecting two routes of different sizes

Piping Compatibility Rule Table
The Compatibility Rule table is used in two ways during part placement:
It helps in building a formula to apply on catalog, database, or Parts Filter.
It helps in orienting parts correctly.
For instance, when placing a part on a route, it is sufficient to obtain the size value from the document and filter the catalog to find parts with the same size. However, sometimes the part that is being placed needs to have an attribute that does not match the attribute on the part it is being placed against.
An example is when a male end is placed next to a female end - these are dissimilar values and this is where the compatibility design rule comes into play. The text table associated with the design rule is examined to determine which attributes match, and the data source is filtered accordingly.
Piping Spool Rule Table (extract)
The Spool Rule table lists three parameters: Part Subtype, End Style and Behavior. The behavior indicates whether a particular combination is to be:
Forbidden in spool: the combination is not included in any spool but further navigation to add a part in the spool is stopped.
Border of spool: the combination is included in the spool but further navigation to add a part in the spool is stopped.
Inside spool: the combination is included in the spool and further navigation to add a part in the spool goes on.
