Common setting recommendation in contect of Fluid systems 3D Design

Piping 3D Design Settings

Note : when we talk about tubing design, we mean where the pipe are bended in majority ; whereas talking about piping is more when we have straight pipe + elbows

Minimum settigns

Here is the minimum set of option that is recommended when starting with Piping 3D design. IT give the maximum of flexibility in the usage of the application

Then later you can activate aditionnal options to put more constrain on user side but in this case it will often request to define more complete table in to the Material Specification design rules table  

LineID & Specification

• Deactivate "Force usage of line ID" : allows to work in Physical product only with single default Specification (no need of RFLP session and multi spec)
  • can be set at beggining but the power of 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA Piping is to work with multiple Piping specification tha tused LineID
• Deactivate "Force usage of specification" : need to work with lineID and default specification is not available  

Design Rules

• Deactivate "Compatibility check" : even if it is deactivate, system is checking compatibility but it allow user to bypass then (thanks to additional option in user UI ; this option must be understood as "Force usage of compatibility"
• Deactivate "Use Resource table" : even if it is deactivate, system is using the "turn rules" and "minimum straight length" resource table for routing but it allow user to not use it if wanted.  this option must be understood as "Force usage of Ressource table for routing"
• Activate "Display the chooser of ...." : if not activated , system will select the first solution he found (in the table or list order) without proposing to the user the other alternatives
• Bend Radius 
  • Activate "Allow local bend radius ..." : to allow modifying locally the bend of a pipe
  • but Deactivate "Use turn rule table" : to allow not be constrain by  the standard value defined by admin
    • in production we will probably activate this option

Pipe properties

• Activate "Copy color from route reference" : if you have colored the reference catalog tube part (according their caracteristics) and you want to maintain this color withing the 3D project models  

Data info Panel

• Deactivate "Sort Nominal Size ..." : to be able to display the value in the order defined in the table by the administrator. Else system will reorder the value based an a internal algorism which is not predictable if you have large variety of size code format

Case of Tubing design 

For tubing design, we will recommand to activate aditionnal following setting to ensure that we will always have a straight tangent portion when connecting to other components 

For piping we propose to not activate it to allows user defining having angle tolerence between tube end and parts if wanted .
