Create and manage intelligent 3D designs of tubing systems from initial design to fully integrated assemblies optionally based on the 2D diagram of the tubing system.
Product Overview
CATIA - Tubing Design 2 (TUB) creates and manages physical designs of tubing lines/systems using industry standard conventions, terminology, practices and company standards. Provided industry-oriented functionalities give users the ability to design the tubing systems in a realistic way. When the product is used with CATIA - Tubing Diagrams 2 (TUD) product, users optimize the design process by propagating and streamlining data and design intent, from the functional diagram to the 3D detailed design. Integrating the two design stages ensures the design intent is captured at the detailed design phase. Tubing lines and parts can be accessed for 3D specification/schematic-driven design, dynamically maintaining consistency between the schematic and 3D design. One can annotate and validate the model, query data and generate appropriate report information with an intuitive an productive user interface.

Product Key Customer Benefits
Intelligent "smart" object modeling and customization...CATIA Tubing Design 2 provides a base object model to implement basic tubing behaviors, relationships and attributes. It allows users to customize object models, by providing the ability to define sub-classes and add attributes.
Provides user-defined ID rules for objects ... Designers can define ID rules to specify their company-specific naming formats and conventions for objects. ID rules can be assigned to individual classes of objects for automatic ID generation.
2D/3D Integration... This new capability optimizes the design process by allowing users to propagate and streamline data from the functional diagram to the 3D detailed design. CATIA Tubing Design 2 integrates the two design stages and ensures that the design intent is captured at the detail design phase. Schematic-driven tubing design dynamically maintains the consistency between the tubing diagram information and the 3D design.
Creation and management of tubing lines... Users can create tubing lines with standard industry attribute information. In addition, designers can delineate their own attributes for inclusion in tubing line definitions.
Evolves preliminary layout to a detail design layout & generates tubing layout route definitions... With the use of standard tubing parts and specification catalogs, designers can progress to the finalized layout stage with greater speed and accuracy. TUB provides easy-to -use routing tools that allow the user to define an early space claim in the preliminary design stage. This enables users to perform early interference detection and uncover space contention. Release 9 includes bundle routing capability. The bundles definition allows users to model the path of tubes, without having to show all individual tubes.
Selection of specification/function-driven tubing parts & placement... Users can select flexible or rigid parts from the catalog, using specifications that are defined for a specific project. This allows users to meet a precise context, such as temperature, pressure, corrosion allowance, or to ensure that modification scenarios are possible. If parts are based on user-defined rules, such as turning or coupling rules, much of the layout can be created automatically, optimizing the total design process. In addition, TUB now supports the multiple placements of parts, such as tubes, tubes with bends, and couplings.
Integrated dynamic rule triggering ... During the preliminary and detailed design process, rule-based design checking actions are automatically launched to validate the proposed design. Users can modify existing samples, or create their own rules, to control the graphic representations of objects via knowledgeware rules. After design creation, the user can still validate the design using a dedicated manufacturability checking command.
Intelligent modification of tubing objects and routes... Users are able to revise layouts and change route segments and nodes using offset and clearance capabilities. Tubing parts and routes can be directly manipulated by pushing and stretching points, segments and extremities. Connectivity is managed through connect and disconnect tools. Tubing part modifications propagate changes that will impact the design intent. Similarly, a specification change will force a new part selection and placement.
Query and analyze tubing parts and configurations ... Key properties are readily available to the user at element pre-highlight. Users can perform a wide variety of queries and/or analysis to inquire about the specific properties of any object in the design document. Through a network analysis tool, designers also have the ability to query and analyze tubing connectivity.
Provides powerful setup tools, capabilities & drawing production customization... TUB now supports the use of multiple graphic representations for defining equipment symbols, when creating catalogs. During the design process, users can manage the activation of graphic representations, while the active status remains consistent. The user can customize corporate data and define rules that will enforce company standards, such as defining tubing specification and geometry definitions, as well as tubing equipment catalog building. An ANSI-based tubing starter catalog and starter tables enable administrators to establish project specifications and standards that ensure a quality design.
Customizable report definition & drawings.... Dedicated report definition capability is provided so that the user can tailor the definition of the reports based on company standards. This definition can access at will any time as needed during the design processes. Specific tools are also provided to allow drawing format customization for single and double line display. Users can insert associative reports in the drawings that provides the ability to update the drawing any time the 3D design is modified.
