[CATIA] Stiffened Structure Engineer

 

Create, Validate and quickly Converge Concept Stiffened Structures made of Composites Materials.

Purpose

The Stiffened Structure Engineer role empowers the engineer with modeling and simulation capabilities in order to boost the convergence of conceptual and preliminary design studies that are driven by their targeted structural properties. 

 

Stiffened Structure Concept: a new efficiency with an "all-in-one" app with modeling and simulation commands.

The Stiffened Structures Concept app delivers all the necessary tools to create a conceptual model, from the assignment of Composites laminate onto regions, the creation of the finite element model fully capturing the design specifications and the setup of structural simulations, loads and boundary conditions, to the solving of the simulation. All these tools are available in the same app, enabling the engineers to focus on their workflows by eliminating the need to switch from modeling apps to structural simulation apps.

 

Idealization, or how to boost design exploration phases with model reduction enabling quicker to solve structural simulations

Structures eligible to modeling reduction can be simplified into beam elements with idealization techniques provided in the Stiffened Structure Concept app, reducing the computation time to solve the structural simulations thus enabling the exploration of more design alternatives.

 

Structural simulation: run it directly from the Stiffened Structure concept app, and benefit from the scalability of the SIMULIA portfolio

The simulation capabilities provided in the role are aligned with the capabilities of the Structural Engineer role (SLL) through the Structural Model Creation app, the Linear Structural Scenario Creation app,  and the Physics Results Explorer app.

The Parametric Design study app is available in the Stiffened Structure Engineer role. It enables "what-if" design exploration scenario, to help the engineer converge the trade-off studies towards the best design variables matching with the targeted kpis. 
The Stiffened Structure Engineer role includes embedded compute licensing allowing execution of one concurrent simulation job on up to 4 cores. 

 

From Concept phase to Detailed Design phase: keep working on the same model

All the design data created by the engineer are seamlessly reusable by the designer in charge of the detailed design phase. The data created with the Stiffened Structure Concept app can directly be edited and enriched with the CATIA Composites Design app, without the need to transfer, convert or reconciliate any data.

  • All in one command (Quick Grid) to split a surface in regions and assign laminates at the same time. Dedicated geometric commands are directly available in the Quick Grid command, allowing for an easy and on-the-fly creation of regions to be assigned with laminate definition.

  • Estimate, review and query the conceptual design at any time with the Numerical Anaysis and Grid Section commands, and with display options in the Quick Grid command (display of thickness, number of plies, cell name, etc.)
