3D Piping - Insulation

Context

Placement of insulation on top of Pipes or other components

Prereq: we assum that the setup with insulation reference and insulation specification has been defined into 3DEXPERIENCE and associated to the collaborative space. for more information on Insulation Specification see Here

Manual placement of insulation

Piping design context

Working without LineID (so with single Default specification)

You will be able to select only the Insulation specification attached to the Default Specification Resource from Datasetup

To be able to select a insulation specification in Data Information Panel, you must be in insulation mode

Working with lineID

Insulation Specification is retreive from LineID. in lineID you will have access to all Insulation specifiaction declared into the Insulation Specification Resource from Datasetup

At any moment you can override the insulation from lineID by selecting manually one in Data information panel

When working with lineID , the selection of the reference PArt are filtered based on the lineID Temperature --> be carefull to have a temperature on the lineID that is compatible with the Insulation Part Min/Max temperature

Not sure the value on insualtion spec has an impact
Very important to have value defined at insulation part level

Automatic Insulation placement

Based on Piping Specification it is possible to define insulation to be placed automatically on the Pipes, and on the Parts with multiple different shapes as shown in following the video.

Managing Insulation gap

By default if you are adding two insulations on the same pipe the second insulation is adding first insulation thickness to its diameter.

In some cases it is required to partially insulate the pipe on different portions, in this case you can add nodes on the pipe to split the segment and then use partial insulations as shown in the following video.
