Definition
We are calling in Tubing "Swivel" connection, a connection between 2 tubing parts that are free in rotation
Swivel-type fittings are designed to allow the coupling and hose connection to rotate, which prevents twisting, kinking and excessive bending. That can extend hose life and reduce maintenance needs. It can also make for more efficient system plumbing
Current usage
Swivel management of Flexible route
This command helps the user to minimize the torsionn in a flex route by rotating (swivelling) a angle part connected at its end
The functionality works on a Flexible tube having at least one end connected to a part/equipment. Swivel will be done on the connected part (if possible).
- If both extremities are connected to parts then swivel rotation can be done by the user on one part at a time.
- The Swivel part will be rotated along one of its port axes.
- The swivel part is rotated about the rotation axis so that the flex route must have the best possible shape i.e. with the least strain.
Usecases
swivel management with angle fitting
Compute the optimized angle fitting orientation along selected axis to minimize the constrains (torsion) on the tube to reach the second tube etremity fitting
Notes : 2024x
This capability is not trigger by any technological information
User can launch the command on any type of tubing part
There is no OOTB way /setting to specify & detect which connections are applicable for swivel "free rotation"
swivel management with straight fitting
As of today 2024x, Flexible tube command doesn't manage torsion between straight fitting and tube.
The swivel management command seems to not have been done to introduce additionnal torsion on the tube
