Mechanical and Piping starter kit including a set up file for common MEPF standards and a catalog of parts to use when routing.

Introduction about HVAC Parts

When working on HVAC system user will have to respect 2 main criteria for the selection of the section size :

  • the Airflow that comes from the system engineer and that gives the value of corresponding Equivalent diameter throug empiric formula
  • the available space to decide which values of HeighxWidth fits to the expected AirFlow/EquivalentDiameter(ED)

the Equivalent Diameter for circular duct is directly the Duct inside diameter --> most of the time Circular duct has fix and limited standardized possible dimensions

For Rectangular duct you can play on 2 parameters Heigh and Width to create all the combination that will allows to have the same AirFlow/ED

so has you can have an infinite list of possible size for rectangular, there is two possibility for Software and 3D component definition point of view:

  • having full parametric components that can adjust themselfs to any dimensions
    • easy to manage for catalog administration
    • doesn't allow to optimize you design by using standardized dimensions that will allow to optimize your fabrication cost
  • having préresolved standard component that are unique for each given dimension
    • allow to optimize you design by using standardized dimensions -> optimize your fabrication cost
    • heavy in term of catalog setup & administration

The starterkit that we deliver here is based on  full parametric components. But to propose an optimization of the sizes we have defined in it a list of preconfigured size for duct. As of consequence when user start designing, he will route a duct based on a finite list of standardized size, and then everytime is placing a component on it, this component will adjust automaticaly to the duct size.

If wanted the user is able to modify the part size to make it out of the préconfigured standard size

Note

We will deliver an extension of this starter kit to provide an exemple of standard parts catalog that fit to the predefined standard size of duct .

Using this catalog user will not be able to adjust the HVAC part dimension to the size he wants, it must select the part with the predefine good size (size is fix inside each part). He can replace a part by another one that has another standardize size. If he wants a new size, a new part must be created inside the catalog or he can use the Full Parametric from the StarterKit

Introduction

the starterkit is composed of 4 category of objects

  • Adjustable Parts (called here "FullParametric"), organized in catalog
    • the part will have it section that adjust itself to the element on which it is placed
    • the part contain additionnal parameter to adjust the part shape according user need (extremity length, offset values ...)
  • Set of Reference Technotables to define
    • standard attribute values (subtype , size, endstyle, material names ....)
    • DS hardcoded value that can be used 
  • HVAC Material specifications (one for DIN and one for ANSI) containing
    • the design rules (turn rules, branch rules, minimum length rules, compatibility ...
    • the part filter (part from the catalog that are applicable for this context of HVAC Material Specification
  • Resource Set object that list all the elements that are needed by the HVAC 3D design App to work incontext of the above catalog and Spec  

    Note : It contains also a catalog of material and a catalog of picture that describe each part parameters

Description

  • Component families with some resolved part (to make it light, we didn't resole all the part only for a range of size
