Because the way to organize an Experiment can vary, Task Plan offers much flexibility when working with Samples and Tasks. Let's take a look at the different options available for you:
- Creating Tasks with Samples
- Adding/Removing Samples to Tasks
- Splitting Tasks with too much Samples
Tip: click the Anchor ⚓ sign on the top right of the page to directly access the sub-sections.
Creating Tasks with Samples
Probably the simplest way of creating tasks associated to samples is to start from the Samples tab of the Task Plan and create tasks from there.
Adding/Removing Samples to Tasks
Sometimes, you just need to add samples to an already existing task. In that case, you need to do this this other way around and start in the Tasks tab.
In a similar manner, you can also remove samples from tasks by removing the barcode in the Edit Task panel or by directly selecting the samples to remove from the task:
Note that, in the 2020 release, you can perform this operation on Data Acquisition tasks that are in Progress. Only samples without results can be removed.
Splitting Tasks with too much Samples
You can also end up with a task that has too many samples. In that case, you will need to use the Split function that allow you to split a task in several ones with less samples.
You can define the maximum number of samples per task:
Or you can specifically select which samples should be associated with the new task:
