Description

We are providing this Technical Note to inform you about the release of BIOVIA Insight for Excel 2022 Golden.

Enhancements

This release of BIOVIA Insight for Excel includes the following enhancements:

ESDX-5896 - "Transfer to Insight" protocol no longer appears in the Most Recently Used list on the Insight Server ribbon, as this protocol is on the Insight Chemistry ribbon.

ESDX-3845 - "Add Fields" and "Get Data" protocols no longer appear in the Most Recently Used list on the Insight Server ribbon, as these protocols are on the Insight Chemistry ribbon.

ESDX-4289 - When "Display Three Letter Sequence" is enabled in the User Settings, 3-letter sequences are displayed. Otherwise, 1-letter sequences are displayed.

ESDX-1856 - Added an option to write out the stereochemistry label for a chemistry structure to an Excel cell. The stereochemistry label is based on the labeling style selected in the Insight for Excel User Settings. Along with the existing AND, OR, Absolute and Mixed labels, this also identifies Meso. If no stereochemistry label is present, “None” is printed to the output cell.

ESDX-2770 - Documented the Excel macro functions of Insight for Excel.

ESDX-2940 - Added the CHEMISTRY.STEREOLABEL worksheet function to display the stereo category of a chemical structure. Also added a Meso label to the existing AND, OR, Absolute, and Mixed labels.

ESDX-2988 - In the User Setting, E/Z, M/P, and R/S labels have been reorganized. Users can calculate E/Z, M/P, and R/S labels in atoms and bonds and control their display from User Settings dialog.

ESDX-3003 - Along with R/S labels, users can now also show or hide E/Z and M/P labels for atoms and bonds.

ESDX-4197 - The last used query in a dialog is saved for the next run until Insight for Excel is closed. When Insight for Excel is closed, the saved query is erased.

ESDX-4396 - When "Show Unknown Double Bonds in Small Rings" is enabled in the User Settings, uncrossed or crossed bonds for unknown geometric isomers are displayed. This option is synchronized with BIOVIA Draw settings.

ESDX-4885 - Added chemistry depiction options to the InsightForExcelCell component.

ESDX-5448 - Excel cell formatting information for all Chemistry cell can be sent to Pipeline Pilot protocols for processing. Cell formatting information includes font name, font color, font formatting (bold, italic, underline), and cell background color.

ESDX-5481 - If the "Load Insight Depiction Settings on Server Connection" is enabled and a user connects to a server with Insight, Insight for Excel synchronizes its settings with the Insight Global Depiction Settings.

ESDX-5764 - The sequence depiction setting in Insight for Excel is now synchronized with BIOVIA Draw. If synchronized with Draw, then sequence depiction is either 3-letter or 1-letter depending on the Draw setting.

ESDX-5768 - Excel cell formatting information for all cells can be sent to Pipeline Pilot protocols for processing. Cell formatting information includes font name, font color, font formatting (bold, italic, underline), and cell background color.

ESDX-5878 - Added the CHEMISTRY.ENHANCE.SMILES worksheet function to generated an Enhanced SMILES string from chemical structures and reactions.

ESDX-5883 - "Copy As SMILES" is now "Copy As Enhanced SMILES". This ensures stereo data is preserved when chemistry is copied.

ESDX-5931 - Updated product license with timestamp and seal to make it tamper proof.

Fixed Defects

This release of BIOVIA Insight for Excel includes the following fixed defects:

ESDX-1618 - User can access Insight Server and Insight Chemistry ribbon menu from inside MS Excel using keyboard shortcuts BS and BI respectively.

ESDX-4872 - The Convert Text function no longer fails with molfiles that contain RGroup Logic if the "Molfile" format is selected. The conversion also works without issue if the default "Automatic" format is used. The function was failing previously because these files are actually RGFiles and not molfiles.

ESDX-5529 - Adding fields from a data source no longer introduces blank columns in the Insight for Excel worksheet.
