[SOLIDWORKS] Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS

Functional Value

It is now possible with Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS to select Windows folders with SOLIDWORKS models to upload those to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

User Experience Value

Feedback to the user while saving data to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform has received significant improvement and now reports the time to completion. New lifecycle commands are now available directly from within SOLIDWORKS. CAD Models uniqueness is now also enforced while creating items from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Auto-Naming becomes an administrator setting and can therefore be controlled for all users.

In R2021xFD04, the Additional App named “SOLIDWORKS” (3DEXPERIENCE add-in for SOLIDWORKS) appeared as:

In R2021xFD05, the above Additional App name has changed to “SOLIDWORKS Add-in” and the icon appears as:

The SOLIDWORKS Add-in app is only visible if a Platform Administrator grants the SOLIDWORKS Additional app to a user.

If the client has Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS role, then the app icon and name for the 3DEXPERIENCE Connector for SOLIDWORKS remains unchanged in R2021xFD05 and still appears as show below.

These apps will be transformed into a single app in an upcoming release as we streamline their functionality.

Improved Save Experience, Duplicates detection, Server side settings management.

The Save dialog has significanly improved and now provide details on the actions required before the Save operation is complete.

The Save to 3DEXPERIENCE command now allows better management for duplicates. The process could stop in case two files with the same name are found or even if file names are different but the geometry is the same.

Conversion to Exact Geometry for SOLIDWORKS files can now be performed in the cloud directly reducing the load on the user machines.
