ENHANCED

  • Feature Visibility - You can now access visibility controls from Visibility Control dialog box or from the context menu for a feature..
  • Node and Element Numbering Visualization for Nastran Model Data - You can now view numbering assigned to nodes and elements in a mesh imported as a result feature from Nastran.

Enhanced app: SIMULIA Fluid Scenario Creation

NEW

  • Coupled Solver - You can now solve the Navier-Stokes equations in a coupled manner, enabling you to reach a solution more quickly by solving all governing equations simultaneously. Coupled solving can require more memory, but it provides greater efficiency in reaching convergence for a solution and provides greater robustness. In general, the coupled solver reduces computation time by at least half, and for some simulations it can solve the equations five to ten times faster than the segregated solver.
  • Human Comfort - You can now assess human comfort in a flow simulation by adding representative human models to the analysis and by specifying their interaction with the surrounding flow using a set of whole-body human physiological parameters. You can also specify how much insulation each human model's clothing provides. After the solution is complete, you can review the convective and radiative heat transfer for the human models.

Enhanced app: SIMULIA Linear Structural Validation

NEW

  • SOLIDWORKS Static Studies - Small-displacement static studies from SOLIDWORKS are now transferred to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as linear static simulations. Contact information is not imported for linear simulations. If your simulation includes contact, you can use contact detection or surface-based contact.
  • Support for Thin Parts - Sheet metal models are now recognized as thin parts and meshed as continuum shells instead of solids. If a model has mixed content, it is still treated as solid throughout.

Enhanced app: SIMULIA Physics Results Explorer

NEW

Operations on XY history data and filtering based on user defined expressions.

ENHANCED

  • Multi-View Comparison of Plots across Steps, Load Cases, and Frames - You can now disable synchronization of plots from the same analysis case to expose a different step, load case, or frame. This is useful when investigating eigenmode simulations and when creating reports.
  • Node, Element, and Surface-based Free Bodies for Resultant Sensors - You can now use predefined surfaces, node sets, cut surfaces, and eligible display groups as a support type when creating resultant sensors. The resultant sensor then calculates the forces and moments for a particular step, load case, and frame.

Enhanced app: SIMULIA Process Composer

NEW

Run Process from Know-how Apps Component - You can now instantiate and run a Simulation Template from the Know-how Apps Component (KAC), and control the lifecycle of the resulting Simulation Process.

ENHANCED

Shareable License Support for 3DX Script Adapter – You can now specify shareable licenses from the 3DX Script adapter to run advanced simulations in the background without the need for named user licenses.

Enhanced app: SIMULIA Material Calibration

NEW

  • Parameter Sensitivity Indicators - During a calibration you can now compute parameter sensitivity indicators. These indicators provide measures of the relative sensitivity of the objective function to perturbations of the active design variables about the final converged solution.
  • Rate-dependent Plasticity - You can now calibrate your test data to include rate-dependent plasticity for the linear elastic, hyperelastic, and parallel rheological framework material models.
  • Support for Multiple CPUs During a Calibration - If the numerical execution kernel is active and you have multiple test data sets, you can now run the calibration using multiple CPUs. This enhancement can reduce the overall time required to complete the calibration job.

ENHANCED

Enhanced Range Response Functionality - You can now create a wider variety of response only curve types, including load-unload curves, relaxation curves, and load-hold-unload curves. You can also quickly create families of curves where the strain rate, temperature, or peak strain can vary.

Enhanced app: SIMULIA Composites Model Creation

ENHANCED

Mesher App Improvements - Several enhancements are available for each of the mesher apps. You can now:

  • Use the Mesh Visualization Connectivities mode to color elements according to their connectivity to one another.
  • Multiselect supports when creating local specifications by edge distribution.
  • Edit edge distributions from the context toolbar.
  • Filter mesh parts by name in the Mesh Part Manager.

In addition, the View and Visualize sections of the action bar have been reorganized as follows:

  • For Model Prep and Mesh, the Visualize sections of the action bar are now labled as the Display sections.
  • For Mesh, the Cutting Plane icon has changed and is now called Sectioning, although the behavior of the tool remains the same.
  • For Modeling, a Display section is now present in the action bar. This section includes tools formerly in the expandable portion of the View menu: Visualization Management, Visibility Control, Clipping Box, Sectioning (formerly known as Cutting Plane), and Display Preferences.

Virtual Bolts - There are several enhancements for virtual bolts:

  • You can now use the virtual bolt detection tool to find bolt locations that are not exactly coaxial. You can specify search tolerances for variations in the hole size, offset, and angle.
  • You have more control over the coupled surfaces created on the supports around hole for coupling. You can create the coupled surface based on the bolt head radius or washer diameter, or you can directly choose the number of node rings around the hole.
  • You can use the context menu on the list of intermediate layers to remove all or selected layers, or you can reset to the list originally detected.
  • You can now use parameter rules files when defining virtual bolts. You can load rules files from the database or import them from your computer. You can save bolt definitions you create for reuse in other bolt definitions.

Point Fasteners - For fasteners using the distributing coupling type, you now have more control over the coupled nodes.

  • You can specify a radius of influence to control how far the coupling extends.
  • You can specify the weighting method that determines how the fastener forces are applied to each node in the distribution.

Enhanced apps: SIMULIA Structural / Internal Acoustic / Structure Model Creation

ALL ENHANCEMENTS ON PREVIOUS PAGE FOR SIMULIA COMPOSITES MODEL CREATION PLUS:

  • Split Quadrangles Availability in Mesh Editor - You can now access the Split Quadrangles command from the Mesh Editor to improve mesh quality. To focus on specific elements, you can specify the element quality (for example, bad or poor elements) when splitting quadrangle elements into triangular elements.
  • Mesh Edit Improvements - When remeshing an area or optimizing elements, you can now Enforce mesh specifications to preserve the original mesh around a hole. Change the size of the mesh for the model or for certain parts of the model to improve the accuracy of simulation results when you retain the local mesh around holes.
  • Mesh Usability Improvements – Enhancements are available for filtering mesh parts and for coloring elements by connectivity:
    • Mesh Part List filter results in the Mesh Part Manager are no longer case-sensitive and include content found in children nodes..
    • Meshing elements are now colored according to their connection types and visualized with the new Mesh Visualization Connectivity mode..
