I'm presenting a breakout session at SolidWorks World 2010 on Monday at 4:30 entitled "Advanced Modeling 301." I would like to solicit all of you as to what you'd like me to cover on this topic whether you're attending SWW or not (presentations will be made available afterward.)
Given feedback from past SWWs - I've decided to make this an advanced breakout (hence “301”) with the assumption that the attendees will have already used most of the advanced tools in SW and understand the reasons why they are used. This way I can then devote most of the session "going deep" on the tools, and try showing aspects of them that you might not have been aware of (i.e. spare me the theory and just get to showing me how to do it.) Here’s a starter list to help you:
- Creating and modifying 2D splines
- Creating and modifying 3D splines (managing and controlling 3Dsketch)
- Advanced 3D curve creation – Wrap, SOS, intersection curve, Fit Spline etc.
- When and when not to use C2 and how to achieve it
- Sketch pictures – how to use them to effectively reference from
- Differences between Loft, Boundary, Sweep and Fill and what are appropriate situations to use them?
- Boundary in depth
- Fill in depth
- Sweep in depth
- Freeform in depth – how to control it, where best used
- Deform in depthPatterning - especially on non planar surfaces
- Flex in depth
- Knit feature (new functionality for 2010)
- Shelling – tips and tricks
- Trimming Extending techniques
- Delete, replace, Heal Face in depth
- Master model techniques – what’s the best method given your situation
- Best practices for strategizing execution of complex models
- Reverse Engineering – working with Illustrator, images and Scanned data
- Overmolds (double-shot matl.) techniques
- Fillets – tips and tricks to get them to work
Regards
Mark
