Although I ran into constant issues when drafting weldments in 2011, it seems that 2012 is even worse. When I place a view of the entire weldment, and then use the "Relative View" command to draft the indivisual bodies, it works sometimes, but then does not many others. Even when I dimension the body on the view of the entire weldment as opposed to the relative, single body view, I still get errors. If you look at the screenshots, you will see the edges I am trying to use highlighted, and the resulting dimensions. This seems very unstable.
I even tried inserting a line over the edge, and it throws it out to the same point where the 0 is shown. The part in the view is not even 20". The dimensions it is grabbing are from a body on the weldment not even shown in the view. Are weldment models not to be used for drafting? Seems like a waste of time to use the weldment feature if they cannot be used to create drawings. Any suggs?
