I've manually edited the "solidworks materials.sldmat" file to set all material hatch patterns to "ANSI31 (Iron BrickStone)" so that existing drawing section views would reflect this change. however, it still shows the original hatch pattern (in this case it was "ANSI38 (Aluminum)" even though the correct hatch pattern shows in the "Edit Material" window of the part file (see attached image showing the discepancy). I can only get the new cross hatch pattern to show in the drawing if I reselect the material in the "edit material" window in the part file.

It appears Solidworks stores a copy of the material information in the part file once it is selected form the database, and never activly queries the database for the correct values. Is there a way for SolidWorks to automatically re-read all the material properties so that the section view will show the new hatch pattern?
