I have created a SW model of a Clerget Rotary engine. My issue revolves around the mating structure I used. I used mostly concentric (lots of cylindrical components rotating around a fixed crankshaft) , and coincidence mates, with a few parallel and cam mates. While building the engine, I made sure I had as many fixed subassemblies as possible, and applied the movable mates toto the moving components in the final assembly. While assembling the engine, the model would periodically create an overdefined mate error which was often cured with a rebuild and save. In other cases the mates would break, and the model components would literally go all over the place.
My last rebuild went well (I rebuilt and saved the model after each component was mated) and everything went well untill the final cam mates overdefined the engine again. The cam mates for the pushrods have been giving me the most difficulty-should that have been tangent mates?
Now the engine is overdefined and can not move-even though the mates are where they should be. Some of the mates marked as overdefined are critical ones that hold the engine components together.
Your help in correcting my matingissues would be greatly appreciated.
