Hi all,
I am simulating a facade panel from a building, the material is Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC). I have to simulate with the thermal contraction and the wind pressure applied in the front face of the panel. The panel is fixed to the brick wall using some steel brackets, which are bonded to the GRC panel.
The load applied are: the temperature load in the whole panel (-15C), the self-weight and the wind pressure in the front face is 1903N/m2.
When we simulate the panel isolated to see the thermal contraction using a linear analysis and soft-spring to stabilise the body ( we don't the thermal simulation license) we achieved good results of deformation and P1.
But when we performed the simulation in the whole assembly with all the loads, the value of P1 increase from 0.02MPa (thermal contraction) to 13.7MPa which are not realistic. When we performed without the temperature load the P1 are similar to the expected value.
I was thinking that the problem could be in the bonded contact between the brackets and the panel, that doesn't allow the movement and increase the stresses.
I have tested with all the type of connectors and contacts, and we have similar results using all of them.
Any idea or new point of view is really welcomed.
Many thanks in advance,
Alex
