Text as a protrusion oriented correctly

Afternoon all,

I have a thinly extruded part.  Basically a piece of sheet metal that has some flat geometry to it.  I want to have some text(for ref. purposes) put on this sheetmetal piece.  When I pick extrude and then am prompted for a sketch plane I pick the top surface of the sheetmetal piece.  When SW puts the sketched plane parallel to my screen so I can sketch on it, of course SW puts the orientation of the piece different than what I need it to be.  So by holding the "ALT key down and hammering the arrow keys I spin the part to the orientation I need so that my text will apppear correctly.  When I start to type my text in the sketcher the text is rotated 90 deg from how I need it to be.

This is really getting to be painful to do simple tasks here.  What in the world do I need to do to get this text or part oriented how I want it?  Why can I not or how can I orient the part how I want it in sketcher and then have my text orient correctly?

Losing my patience here late in the afternoon.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Sid
