Here's some info on my setup:
- computers with Windows 7 64 bit installed
- Models and drawings stored in shared network folders
- No PDM
- users are not administrators (can't install any additional software, etc)
In SolidWorks Explorer options, there are 2 places that I need paths to be changeable by a user but it isn't playing well with the Windows 7 permissions.
In "File Locations" on the "References\Where used" tab a standard user can change the folders - "add folder" or "remove". After clicking OK there is a prompt for the administrator password (which they don't have). Closing this prompt without entering a password keeps the changes.
Similarly in "Search folders" under the "Search" tab a user can add or remove folders. After making a change and clicking OK there is a prompt for the administrator password. Closing this prompt without entering a password DOES NOT keep the changes.
I want users to be able to change these paths without being an administrator. I've played with permissions for a lot of different things but haven't been able to get rid of the administrator password prompt.
Any help?
