Just beginning using CAM and ran into a weird problem. It's probably some setting I have wrong but thought I'd ask rather than spend a ton of time digging.
It sets up my profile toolpath beautifully using the selected tool from the solidworks tool crib I set up. The problem is, the output when I post process is the center of that toolpath which is already offset for the virtual tool....and also includes gcode for tool offsets. What this effectively does is give a DOUBLE offset when the part is on the actual mill: The solidworks CAM pre-offset tool path PLUS the mill's offset based on its tool table.
In effect, the only way to have the tool follow the proper tool path on the mill is with the tool table diameter set to zero. This complicates things like adjusting for tool wear or tweaking finish passes.
Where's my "operator error" hiding on this?
Thanks
