Set a part as exclude from BOM when drawing part ?

Hi

Is it possible to model a part and then set a configuration within this part to be excluded from BOM when inserting into an assembly ? I know you can RMB in the assembly file and exclude from BOM but can you do this any other way?

The reason is, for example, i have a hinge drawn and each half of the hinge is set as a configuration. I can then insert each part of the hinge into the assembly and attach each half to a frame and the door. I can then mate the two hinges together and be able to open the door etc.

I then would create a linear pattern of the hinge a couple times spaced along the door and frame. However in my BOM it sees both configurations of the hinge, so two hinges would be shown as 4.

I have got the hinge saved as an assembly made up with the 2 configurations, with one already excluded, which i can insert into my main assembly. I then can dissolve this assembly, float the parts and attach to the door & frame etc, but i just wondered if there is a away of excluding configurations from BOM's within actual parts?
