I’m working toward my CSWA and I’m at a point where I understand the concept of the Rib feature, but I keep getting stuck on the setup before the rib even happens.
My real issue is reference geometry.
I’m struggling with how to create and place planes where I actually need them so I can sketch the rib correctly. Once the setup is there, I understand the idea of the rib. What’s slowing me down is figuring out how to drop a plane in the right location and orientation without getting lost.
What I’m trying to learn better:
- how to decide when I need a new plane for a rib
- how to create that plane in the right place
- what references to select so the plane lands where I intend
- how experienced users think through this instead of guessing
I’m not looking for someone to do it for me — I’m trying to understand the logic behind it so I can stop getting stuck every time reference geometry comes up.
If anyone is good at explaining planes/reference geometry in a practical way, especially as it relates to placing ribs, I’d really appreciate the help.
I’m serious about learning SOLIDWORKS and putting the work in. I just need this part to finally click.
I am trying to self teach and no one on the video's I watch will answer my questions 😉
