Hello solidworks forum!
I’m constructing a laser transport line in a building from level 5 to level 7 (basement levels) through vacuum pipes and a handful of 45degree turns. The turns are managed with controlled mirrors in chambers with connections and support structure. The vacuum tubes and 20kg mirror chambers are held by steel support fastened on the wall of the tubing shaft. These steel supports are up to 1meter out from the wall due to geometric constraints of the building.
The project manager is interested in knowing if solidworks simulation can calculate a displacement in the supports due to ambient vibration of the building and its surroundings (it is crucial to minimize the mirror displacement).
When making myself familiar with the simulation software the random vibration study seems the best bet. Now to the question, what do I put as Uniform Base Excitation and damping ratio?
(I did a test study that used a PSD acceleration of 1 g^2/Hz (as base excitation), a damping ratio of 0.02, number of frequencies=15, operating freq limit 0 to 5000 cycles/sec (Hz) which gave a max displacement value of 0.9237 mm on the far end of the support.)
Thanks
