Is there any way to have external ( not networked) users to have complete PDM workgroup functionality? ) Not just viwer)

ours is a single user company and we don't wish to sepdn big \\\$ on PDM enterprise

The external contractor  is overseas has his SW professional and so do we

Qucik search had few answers about Solidworks PDm Client but says it won;t let the external user check in documents!

Any tips on how to set suahc a thing

Another idea thrown is use FTP but wil that work? certainly won;t have PDM functionality

All help appreciated
