I am updating an old part that looks to have been made in 2015 and wanted to correct the color, so it at least somewhat matches reality. But can't seem to fix the color of the part, at the part level. 

So Far I have tried assigning it a new appearance, pasting an appearance from another part and deleting the appearance all together. None of these things changed the color of part significantly, only slightly lightening or darkening it. There are no decals applied to the part and I don't see anything in the extended feature tree that shows any color when I look at it.

What could be causing this?
