Sorry if this has been asked before, did a quick search and didn't find just what I was looking for.

The premise is pretty simple, I want to create a part that just contains a sketch depicting the shape and dimensions of the base part.

I want to then insert that "part" into two new part files and create an extrusion from the imported sketch. This way the two real parts will have exactly the same outer shape and size.

This is certainly do-able but the problem is, if I change anything in the original sketch-only part, the change is not reflected in the two real parts (even though their underlying sketchs reference the original sketch-only part)

can this be done?
