All,
Small 5 man engineer group. I am the only CAD user. We currently have all the files on my hard drive, back up once a week too two different locations. Like the speed and efficiency of having everything local, but the number of files is growing! No way we are going with a PDM tool anytime soon.
My current structure is to have everything in one spot but that takes thousand s of files to search through if I am trying to find something but can't remember a name. Is there a danger or issue with creating file folders in Windows to organize the data? I want a folder where hardware from off the shelf vendors sits. I want another folder for a vendor who we collaborate with and make rapid changes too the files as the design matures.
How does creating a series of folders impact migration later on to something like EPDM?
