I have a SolidWorks assembly with three rotating components:
Large sprocket → Small sprocket → Flywheel
I have Gear Mates between the components, and the motion transmission works perfectly when I manually rotate/drag the large sprocket with the mouse. All three components rotate correctly according to their gear ratios.
However, I already have an Angle Mate controlling the large sprocket's position. When I edit the existing Angle Mate and change the angle (for example, from 0° to 45°), only the large sprocket rotates. The small sprocket and flywheel do not move.
So:
🖱️ Drag large sprocket → all 3 rotate correctly ✅
🔢 Change existing Angle Mate → only large sprocket rotates ❌
Gear Mates themselves appear to work correctly.
I am not creating a new Angle Mate; I am editing the existing one.
Why does SolidWorks behave differently between mouse-dragging and changing the Angle Mate value? Is there a way to make the Angle Mate act as the input motion so that the Gear Mates transmit the motion through the entire mechanism?
