I'm a student and new to solidworks. I have made a sheet metal part that has tabs on it which are meant to bend over when a top plate is put on. I inserted both parts into an assembly and mated them. I then made a sketch on the top plate to cut out all of these taps and proceeded to do an extrude cut on all of them. It worked and looked great in the assembly but my changes have not transferred to the part file. Anyway I can do this?

I'm also curious if anyone knows if I can reference the part with tabs on it to automatically cut the slots need in the other part?
