Hi All,
I have had this issue going on for a few years now so I thought I'll ask the forum to see if others are having a similar problem.
Currently I use a lot of multibody parts with weldments etc. based on a mastersketch to create the items I need to detail on drawings to issue to the shop floor for fabrication.
So in a drawing I will insert a multibody part and generate a B.O.M derived from it. The B.O.M details are taken from the cut list properties of the multibody part, sorted in material type, e.g. plate, sheet, PFC etc.
The description column in the B.O.M shows the material dimensions from the Bounding Box properties and I have added a Custom Property called "REMARKS" which I name in the cut-list to describe what the multibody part is, e.g. SHS member name or a pressed part name. All has worked fine for years.
When I want to detail a body part, I Insert a drawing view after selecting a body from the multi-body part, usually 3 views and an isometric view. I link the isometric view to the B.O.M that is appropriate to that body.
From the isometric view, I drag off 2 balloons, one to indicate the body view and a second which I place under all the views of the body so I can link to the Custom Properties of the body.
From the second balloon, I right click on the balloon to bring up the properties of the balloon and change the setting to have no border and change the BOM text from 'ITEM No' to 'Custom Properties' .
When this property is changed a second pick box drops down so you can select which 'Custom Property' you wish to use. I select 'REMARKS' which then changed the balloon on the drawing from a BOM number to a Description of what the Part I'm detailing is.
Lastly, I double click on the text that now appears where the BOM number was and is shows the syntax properties of that text.
Firstly, I click in front of the text line and click on the first balloon pointing to the isometric view of the part (described above), which then places that balloon number in front of the descriptive text, secondly, after the last text in the line, I type the BOM Label Number that this part relates to (e.g. B.O.M Table 1) and then I click out of the edit window.
Here where the problem lies, if the BOM item number is 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. it works great, if the BOM Item number is 1 it won't work. if I sort the BOM differently and go back to the drawing views the number appears correctly. Occasionally if I re-sort to the original the number will change back and the Item No 1 appears.
Any thoughts?
Regards,
Patrick Lynch
