Hi All,
I have extensive experience using Autodesk inventor. I regularly used derived parts as I created most of my complex assemblies based on a single "Skelton" part. In this part I would have tons of sketches, planes, points, and dimension. Then for each part or assembly i created I would insert this skeleton as a derived part. Inventor allows you to pick what sketchs, plane or dimensions to bring over. I was then able to completely drive complex assembly from this single skeleton file to configurate the assembly. When I say tons I mean as many as 100 sketchs and upwards of 1000 properties all in a single part. While it does appear that solidworks has some of this function its limited to All or nothing without allowing individual selections. Is there something I am over looking and is there another way to define derived parts other than "insert part" feature. I hoping some of you all have the same experience with inventor and have found a more 1 to 1 method.
