I'm interning at a company working with a tunnel boring machine. We have received the CAD model from the manufacturer in a .igs file but the file is too large (just over 1gb) for the company's computer systems to handle. As such myself and a colleague are trying to work on the model using or personal systems. My colleague is using Autodesk and managed to get the model working (after about 12 hours converting the files) I have been trying to do the same on SolidWorks but the program freezes after roughly 30 minutes running through parts (I have left it in this state for around 5 hours to no avail). I have also tried importing my colleagues Autodesk files but this causes SolidWorks to crash after around 30 minutes. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this file to open? It's really delaying my progress on this project and I don't know what else to try.
