Hi everyone,

I’m working with Weldments and cut lists in SolidWorks, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to automatically group similar bodies that have slightly different lengths using a tolerance.

For example, I have two pieces of 4x3x.25 angle iron: one is 77 3/4" and the other is 77 5/8". Because we cut everything in-house from 20' sticks, my boss prefers that these don’t appear as separate line items in the cut list—he’d rather see them combined if the length difference is within a certain range.

Is there a way to set a tolerance so that parts like these are grouped together automatically in the cut list? Or is there a recommended workflow to simplify this for purchasing while keeping our model accurate?
