Hello everyone,
I am working with a local Solidworks designer on a few product ideas I have had for a while. He has created some great models for me using external threads and I am planning to have them 3d printed for test fitting etc.
We are currently working on a conversion bracket and it will require some internal threads to be cut. The designer told me that you cannot do internal threads in Solidworks/cad. I have seen videos/tutorials showing designers creating internal threads for nuts and bolts and other parts so I am not sure how this is different. I understand that the external threads are cosmetic but I guess I do not understand why that is not possible for internal threads.
The cosmetic threads show up fine in my 3d printing software. I would rather have the 3d printer actually print the part with the threading instead of me using a tap tool.
Ultimately these designs will be made by cnc.
Just wanted to get some thoughts on this.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
