Hello,
While waiting for my VAR to come back from holiday, I thought I would ask here.
I am doing a SW 2017 SP2 clean installation on Windows Server 2012 R2. The installation runs to 91% and fails. Examination of the logs gives me this at the end of the log (the detailed one):
[I 0 1 ClientInstaller.cpp(6206) 13:25:34] Calling ::MsiInstallProduct: no installed product; step = 5
[I 0 3 Utilities.cpp(6340) 13:25:34] Info: Attempting to grab MSI Server execution mutex
[I 0 1 Utilities.cpp(6356) 13:25:34] Success: Grabbed the MSI Server execution mutex
[I 0 3 ClientInstaller.cpp(6215) 13:25:38] INFO: Releasing the MSI Server mutex.
[I 0 3 ClientInstaller.cpp(6235) 13:25:38] ::MsiInstallProduct returned 1639
[E 156 1 MSIInstaller.cpp(3245) 13:25:38] \$S13:25:38 Error Status 156 0 "***START DUMP OF WINDOWS INSTALLER DATA***"
[E 157 1 MSIInstaller.cpp(3253) 13:25:38] \$S13:25:38 Error Status 157 0 "Info 1639.Invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows Installer SDK for detailed command line help.
"QABU"
[E 158 1 MSIInstaller.cpp(3258) 13:25:38] \$S13:25:38 Error Status 158 0 "***END DUMP OF WINDOWS INSTALLER DATA***"
[E 0 1 MSIInstaller.cpp(3203) 13:25:38] ** Install FAILED with code 1639
[E 154 1 MSIInstaller.cpp(3204) 13:25:38] \$S13:25:38 Error Step 154 0 "** Install FAILED with code 1639"
[E 0 1 MSIInstaller.cpp(3055) 13:25:38] Product:SOLIDWORKS PDM Server ErrorCode:1639
"[E" obviously indicates an error. And I see a lot of this in the log as well:
[E 0 1 Utilities.cpp(3447) 12:58:07] Error 21 in RegVal.exe; Output: xEF xBFxBE (Non-Printable characters)
Doing the Google thing reveals that error 1639 is this, "Invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows Installer SDK for detailed command-line help.", which is no help at all.
Let's discuss.
