I'm trying to import a large (13,000+ entity) autocad drawing into a solidworks 2D drawing. I tried doing it a few months ago and even after fully purging the drawing, the result in solidworks is an overwhelmingly slow monster, even on a fast pc properly configured for SW. Every line has a large dot distractiing dot at it's endpoints. I think it would've been better to simply create the drawing in solidworks originally but have les exp on SW 2D than acad 2D. It's a large plant layout with quite a few layers: electrical, equipment, machines, architectural, etc.
I have quite a bit of SW 3D exp and always thought SW 2D sketching was a bit awkward but perhaps just needed to learn it better. What are you guys' thoughts on doing this kind of work on a solidworks sketch? Is it possible to clean up the imported drawing so it's easily editable or easier to redraw it on SW?
