I see that there's a mechanism for listing, locking, and unlocking external relations between parts in "in-context modeling." I'm not making such relations, but I am using equations in one part that reference dimensions in other parts of an assembly. It would be convenient to be able to list, lock, and unlock all such references in a part so that individual part models don't complain on rebuild, but I can't find any way to do this. Is there one?
A related question: What actually happens when you open and edit an individual part that has such external equations references? Do the results of all equations previously calculated in-context continue to be used as though they were "locked?" Can you make out-of-context changes to such a part and rebuild it to see the results, then insert it back into the assembly later without problems? -- John Willett
