Flow Simulation, Air and Oil Separation

Hello,

I am currently working on a project designing an Automotive Catch Can, briefly the idea behind a catch can is to separate high pressure / high temperature Air mixed with Oil coming from the engine to relief Positive Crankcase Pressure.

My question is what is the correct way of setting the boundary condition for this kind of application. In Theory, the more surface area the mixture contact with the higher the efficiency the design would be and more oil is condensed and captured in the can while considering smooth air flow at the exit.

My approach to this is to have the main inlet as Air and particles for Oil droplets and of course atmospheric pressure at the outlet. I had every surface the flow passes through as an Absorber in Wall Conditions to absorb oil droplets using Particles Studies.

However, to how these Catch Cans work the oil is accumulated at the bottom of the Case and not absorbed into the material, so once a particle contacts a baffle it slows down and condensate and drops to the bottom. So is my approach to this application for 2 fluids is correct or i have to use different Boundary and Wall Conditions to approach this problem?

Thank you
