File...Properties vs. Task Pane Tab vs. Data Card

We plan to create new templates (part, assy, drawing, etc) before we switch over to EPDM.  For anyone currently using EPDM, do you find that the data card is now your primary means of entering Custom Property information?  Or do you still use 'File....Properties' and/or the Custom Properties tab on the Task Pane?

It seems like the data card provides more flexibility and power than the other two options, essentially making them unnecessary.

Because of the limitations of the Property Tab Builder, we currently have to use some macros and other kludges to make sure that the property information is correct.  For example, we have a 'Material' property that will be populated in four different ways depending on the type of part (manufactured, purchased, subassembly or modified).

Are there any disadvantages to using the data card as the primary means of entering part data?

Perhaps a compromise, where the task pane tab has some of the basic properties that don't need fancy logic?
