I would like to receive some feedback on the following subject. How handles solidworks contact sets including friction ?
We are analysing a engine bracket in contact with the engine rail. (non-linear contact study), it seems that there is displacement between the contact faces that I would not expect based on the coefficient of friction and normal force. This has major influence on the loading path.
I made a very simple model to see how SW handles contact including friction:
*2 blocks.
*fix displacement on bottom face.
*-100 kN vertical force applies at solution time 0 to 0.1, 0.1 to 1 kept constant
* 15 kN traverse load linear increasing from solution time 0.1 tot 1
* Surface to surface contact set, coefficient of friction 0.15.
I am confused to see a jump in displacement(see image) between the contact faces while the coefficient of friction is not exceeded(see result force image).
Your Feedback is highly appreciated.
