Hoping someone can help. I'm dipping my toes in to MBD as part of a project to upgrade our CMM. There doesn't appear to be a great amount of information or help online with DimXpert (which is probably an indication of how efficacious and widely used it is).
I have two problems currently and hoping anyone can help. I should mention we work to BS 8888 (ISO GPS):
- I have a cylindrical feature (bore) that has an o-ring groove breaking it into two separate cylindrical features. This is a datum, and has a straightness control applied to it. The size has "CT" (and "E") modifier indicating they should be treated as one for size tolerancing, and the GTol should have the CZ modifier to indicate the straightness tolerance applies to both features simultaneously. However, DimXpert won't let me apply CZ to a straightness tolerance. It would appear to be an omission disallowing this, is there any way to force it to let me apply CZ either through settings or circumvention another way?
- I have cosmetic threads, however the "Size Dimension" doesn't pick up cosmetic threads, I can only grab the MD (external thread) or LD (internal thread). Is this working as designed, as it is not particularly helpful (a theme perhaps)?
