I'll keep this one quick and simple.

I would like to know how to get the dimension of the length made from an extruded feature from one sketch plane up to a surface, without having to add in an additional reference dimension.  I there a way to do this or how does solidworks create the lengths.  I am trying to create a multibody part using t-slotted material without using the weldments becuase I can do it quicker without needing to trim and extend all of the entities after the fact.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
