What are the thoughts on system Cache vs. Processor speed.  We are getting some new systems and I.T. spec'd Six Core Xeon E5-2630, 2.3Ghz, with a 15M cache, these will have 16Gb of 1600MHz RAM.

The above processor speed is actually "slower" than my current Xeon E5645 @ 2.4Gh, this is with 12Gb of RAM.

This seems a little off, but I am not a CPU guru, and the new processers might be of a lot new generation.  Hopefullly this has a simple explanation that will prove positive for me in the future.
