I recently created a Configuration Manager or Property Manager for a component. It works excellent, except that the component is a Smart component with Auto Size in use. The problem is that when I insert this component, it autosizes, but then when it goes to the Configuration Manager the size is reverted back to the default where I have to select it again.
I've got two questions:
- Is there a workaround?
- Why is it this way? (I'm asking SolidWorks primarily)
- Can this be fixed
- We've got 2 good functionalities that are of similar application, it seems counterproductive for them not to work together.
Personally, I've been a little disappointed with the Smart Components implementation. When it started it was talked about as the greatest thing, and I think it is that, but then we haven't heard anything about it since (that was in 2006 if I remember correctly). And its still left in the infant stage-with so much potential-for 4 years.
Note: I'm in SW 2009sp3.0 so I'm not 100% sure what has improved in 2010.
Thanks,
Craig S.
