At the training Advisory Panel, there was a discussion about the future of the 17 eCourses that are currently available for a 3 month subscription per class. As they have not sold very well, there is a proposal is to offer these eCourses as a bundle to be included with the My.Solidworks Professional subscription. What do you fellows think? I believe that it will directly compete with my live training class attendance for Sheet Metal, Weldments, Surfacing, and Mold Tools. It is currently hard enough to fill these classes on a regular basis.
I would also submit that it is not always up to the Engineering student on options for a training class, as some companies will likely go the cheapest route*(a ~\$300 subscription for 17 classes, which is cheaper then ONE of these classes LIVE); which is not going to necessarily be the best for the student. Obviously we already are competing with SolidProfessior, I.Get.It, and Lynda or LinkedIn Learning. Not to mention that it will most definitely compete with my own on-line training offerings.
The main issue that I see as being different is that the Solidworks eCourses follow the EXACT same book and training files that are directly offered by Solidworks Corporation, and will therefore have a much different impact then the other on-line competition. Again, I believe, that this training offering will be seen as being identical to VAR training. Obviously it will not be, but that is only obvious to anyone who has attended a live training session with our World Class Certified SOLIDWORKS Instructors.
