clearance fit

Hi this is my first post.

I'm designing a box from laser cut bamboo sheet.  The sides mate together with a rectangular protrusions, which fit into reciprocal recessions in the side to which they join ( think like dove tails, but rectangular.  See the attached drawings).  When I prototyped it with the protrusions (analogous to shafts) and the recessions ( holes, I guess) the same size (10mm), the fit was too tight.  So I would like to introduce a clearance fit of 0.1mm between these two elements.  I could just dimension them to 9.95mm each, but I still want to be able to use the edges to mate the parts together in the assembly.  Is there any way I can just click on the join in the assembly to introduce the clearance, without upsetting the mates?

I've found the section in dimensioning which says fit, or fit and tolerance, but I don't really understand the options and can't find good documentation.  I'm a designer, not an engineer, so it may be I don't understand the terms properly.

Thanks for any help,

Andrew
