I currently have 3 NACA 0015 blades at a chord length of roughly 381mm (.381m) with a solidity of .3 (high). I can't seem to find any information on using flow simulation to calculate the lift and drag forces for helical blades. All I have found videos showing how to do 2D calculations for this, however, that won't work with a helical blade, right? This turbine is the Darrieus type, a lift type. I did do some flow simulations to calculate the lift and drag on a different chord length with the same height (2590.8mm or 2.5908m) and diameter (2286.8mm or 2.2868m) and I obviously did it wrong.
So my questions are:
Can I get those forces from a 2D CFD?
If so, can someone point me in the direction of how to do that with a helical blade?
If not, can someone point me in the direction of how to do that with a 3D CFD?
I know that the blade length, turbine height, turbine diameter will change to get a better aspect ratio, but having the information now will be invaluable.
Attached are the single blade and 3 blade documents. Thank your for any consideration.
