Configuration::BOMPartNoSource = swBOMPartNumber_UserSpecified
or
Configuration::UseAlternateNameInBOM = TRUE
What, if any, is the difference between the two? I believe the former relates specifically to the SW GUI configuration setting "Part number when displayed in a Bill of Materials" being set to "User Specified". Is this correct?
I would like users in our company to use the configuration setting method exclusively (settting it to filename, config name, or whatever is most appropriate), then I plan to use this setting with an interface I am developing for our MRP system to retrieve data about the part, so I know which part number to refer to. In our situation we often have two different part numbers referring to the same thing because one pn in the MRP is sellable and the other is set up for lean mfg. I have advised users to employ this configuration setting for BOM purposes when part numbers "change" to avoid the potential pitfalls of renaming SW files.
Thanks!
