Anyone know why these bodies enlarge during simulation? They seem to expand and get physically larger. The material is based on optical fiber - so it's a glass-like material. Are they just under constrained? I had issues getting results that matched reality when I rigidly connected the fiber ends, so I switched to using end caps - the cylinder on the outside is a plastic material that shrinks when a cold temperature is applied, this presses on the loose fibers in the middle and causes them to move and press against one another. I didn't have this kind of expansion when I did 12 fibers - so more tightly packed. As I shrink the ID of the jacket cylinder it also becomes less pronounced which makes me think maybe its lack of constraints, but I don't know how to constrain the fibers more while still achieving the motion that I need to. If I use soft springs for example, it kills any of the movement of the fibers inside the jacket cylinder.
