I am on an M1 Mac, running Solidworks 2020 on Windows 10 Insider Preview as a virtual machine in Parallels 16.5.
During the Solidworks installation, on a fresh install of Windows, I got the errors shown on the screen grabs. When I tried to run Solidworks for the first time, I also got an error message that Solidworks has failed to obtain a computer identifier, and that future activation problems will result. Solidworks never gets past the startup splash screen.
Even after restarts, Solidworks crashes during in the startup splash screen.
I have found only one solitary reference for a similar problem, on a 30-second long YouTube video that ends prematurely. The solution in the video description does not apply, because the boxes that needed to be checked were already checked. At this point, I'm not sure what to do.
I have had mixed successes getting Solidworks to load via Parallels on an M1 Mac, and usually something goes wrong but it's never the same thing twice.
This question is specifically about the failing to obtain a computer identifier. How would I fix that, if I were on a regular PC?
